Luciano Berio and Sinfonia
Since 1969, the group has performed Sinfonia, a pivotal piece of Western Art Music, over two hundred and fifty times. Composed for the swingle singers and first performed with Leonard Bernstein conducting, Sinfonia was composed by the highly influential Italian composer Luciano Berio who sadly passed away in May 2003. The group still gives performances of Sinfonia around the world with the finest conductors and orchestras and has revived another piece written with them in mind - an a cappella tour de force called A Ronne - for performances in honour of the great composer in 2004.
