Swingles and Shlomo TOMORROW!
After many years, the group is back at the City of London Festival tomorrow (July 4), performing in London's beautiful Hampstead Heath as part of the "Sweden On Stage" festivities. While the Swingle-Sweden connection is a bit of a head-scratcher, the group's American member, Sara, will no doubt enjoy the July 4 celebration for her own reasons! The Swingles will be opening for the fantastic Benny Andersson Orchestra (yes, the same Benny Andersson of Abba fame).
In addition, the Swingles will share the stage once more with beatboxer extraordinaire, Shlomo. Two years ago, their collaboration led to the world's first beatbox choir, taking the UK by storm. Since then, Shlomo has carried the project forward under the name "the Vocal Orchestra", going from strength to strength-most recently, an appearance at the Glastonbury Festival. Shlomo himself has worked with an eclectic range of artists including Björk, Jarvis Cocker, Imogen Heap, and Martha Wainwright.
If you're in the London area, come spend a day in the park and enjoy the gorgeous London summer weather and some great music!
(PS: you can hear Shlomo on the Swingles 2007 release "Beauty and the Beatbox")
